Associate Life
Associate/Partner Relationships
Each associate has a supervising partner who is responsible for training the associate in his or her practice area and for coordinating the assignment of projects to the associate and the training of the associate by other partners. Partners also organize seminars and training sessions for all associates in our various practice areas.
Associate Participation in the Firm’s Administration/Committees
Goodsill has associate members on the associate development and hiring and recruiting committees. They are chosen by the other members of those committees. Associate input is often sought and considered on policy decisions for the firm, and there are usually associate members on the ad hoc committees.
Training Programs For Associates
There are regular in-house training sessions regarding various litigation techniques and real estate conveyancing and roundtable discussions on litigation, real estate, corporate and tax matters. There are also seminar sessions to cover new developments in law and meetings regarding the business of practicing law, such as handling conflicts between clients and business development.
The firm pays for all in-state CLE or other educational programs. Out-of-state training programs are paid by the firm if approved by the Managing Partner.
Associate Evaluation and Partnership Track
Each associate’s performance is evaluated annually. Currently, associates who have met the high standards of the firm are considered for partnership after seven and one-half years with the firm.
