Goodsill Partner Paul Shimomoto Presented at the Captive Insurance Companies Association Webinar

Goodsill Partner Paul Shimomoto participated as a panelist for the Captive Insurance Companies Association Webinar: Non-Domiciliary State of Taxation of Captives – 201 on April 16, 2020.  With significant uncertainty regarding self-procurement taxes and the various positions states have taken with regards to this issue, Paul and his colleagues discussed how captive owners have much to consider as they evaluate where to domicile their captives, how to structure them and how to operate them in the individual states.  The panel also discussed various strategies that could be taken to navigate the changing landscape with regards to captive taxation and the individual states in which they operate.    Other speakers on the panel included:  Joe Holahan, Esq. (Of Counsel, Morris Manning & Martin); Dan Kusaila (Partner, Crowe LLP); Joel Chansky (Consulting Actuary, Milliman).
