Biography
David J. Hoftiezer is a litigator who concentrates his practice on aviation, professional liability defense, personal injury and premises liability, corporate disputes, and environmental law. David also has experience representing corporate and individual clients in internal investigations, including matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the False Claims Act, and securities and accounting fraud.
David began his legal career as an associate at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP in Washington, D.C. as a member of the firm’s Securities Litigation and Anti-Corruption and Internal Investigations practice groups. He moved to Hawai‘i with his family in 2013, joined Goodsill’s litigation team, and became a partner at Goodsill in 2018. David is Co-Chair of Goodsill’s Professional Development Committee and a member of Goodsill’s Technology and Hiring & Recruiting Committees. When he is not working or spending time with his wife and daughter, David volunteers and serves as a board member of the Honolulu Theater for Youth and Volunteer Legal Services of Hawai‘i.
David grew up in small-town Wisconsin before attending Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He worked for several years before attending University of California Davis School of Law, where David served as a Senior Articles Editor on the Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Board. Prior to law school, David worked as Director of Dartmouth College’s Rahr Geography lab, where he taught Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing labs for Dartmouth College’s Geography and Environmental Studies departments.
