Michael Korniczky at Maui Food Industry Accelerator

On August 14, 2017, Michael Korniczky gave a presentation to the Maui Food Industry Accelerator Cohort #4, a group of Maui and Hawai’i based food and beverage companies, held at the Maui Food Innovation Center. The presentation covered business contingency planning, ensuring the supply of critical raw materials, different ways that a business may enter into more favorable supply contracts, and how a business can protect its product brands through the use of trademarks and obtaining trade dress protection.

Also presenting to the Cohort #4 was Big Island Organics, Inc.’s president, Bader Alwazzan. Bader discussed issues that small food manufacturers may deal with as they start, and about what they can expect from distributors, retailers and consumers. Additionally, Bader discussed several issues that Big Island Organics faced in manufacturing and selling its Gingerades and lemonades to food stores across the country.
