Goodsill Acknowledges Three “Lawyers of the Year” Firm Ranked Tier 1 by 2013 Edition Best Lawyers®

Nov 1, 2012

(HONOLULU, HAWAII — November 01, 2012) — Twenty-two attorneys with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP are among the 2013 Best Lawyers® in America list; three earned the distinction of “Lawyer of the Year.” The firm is ranked Tier 1 for the program’s “Best Law Firms” in America.

Lisa Bail (environmental law), Raymond K. Okada (litigation – trusts and estates), and David J. Reber (mergers and acquisitions) were named the best of the best in their respective fields. Only a single lawyer in each practice area in a community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.” They are selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2013 (Copyright 2012 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, SC).

Bail concentrates her practice in environmental law, land use and commercial litigation. Her experience includes trials, administrative hearings, appellate, real estate and transactional matters in environmental law and commercial litigation. She is conversant with all phases of litigation, from pleading and discovery through injunction, summary judgment, trial, mandamus and appeal. Bail is a frequent speaker at environmental law seminars, is a contributing author of the Hawai‘i Environmental Law Handbook, and is active in many associations. Bail also ranked in Chambers & Partners USA (2011) as a leading individual and is a Super Lawyer (2011).

Okada handles estate planning, estate settlements, will and trust disputes and tax controversies. Okada is listed in Best Lawyers® in the practice area of trusts and estates, in Super Lawyers and has an AV Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell, (the highest rating available).  Okada is former Hawaii State Chair of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel, former President of the Hawaii Estate Planning Council and is a frequent speaker at the Hawaii Tax Institute.

Reber represents clients in a variety of business dealings, regulated and exempt securities offerings, merger and acquisition transactions and in addressing issues of corporate governance and fiduciary duties. He also received recognition as Lawyer of the Year in Corporate Law in 2009.  He has earned an AV® rating by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory for twenty-five consecutive years, the highest rating available to any individual lawyer.

Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 36,000 leading attorneys cast almost 4.4 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
