Summer Associate Program at Goodsill

The Goodsill Summer Associate Program presents a unique opportunity for law students to learn about the practice of law. At the heart of the Program lies Goodsill’s commitment to enrich the professional development of aspiring attorneys, while providing a place for interpersonal engagement. The 10-week program includes three distinct components.

Real-World Engagement:

The cornerstone of Goodsill’s Summer Associate Program lies in assigning summer associates work on actual client matters, facilitated by partner administrators. This approach allows summer associates to observe trials, mediations, client meetings, negotiations, hearings, and transaction signings.

Immersive Learning:

Goodsill University adds an educational dimension to the program. Firm Partners lead practice-oriented seminars that bridge the gap between theory and practice, and cover topics such as Federal Court Practice, Transactional Law Tips, and Legal Writing.

Cultivating Connections:

Structured yet informal gatherings facilitate interaction between summer associates and attorneys from various practice groups, offering a glimpse into daily life at the firm. It’s a platform to forge meaningful connections with experienced attorneys who can provide invaluable insights into the legal profession.

Recent summer associate and J.D. candidate, Allison Saunders, aptly summarizes her experience: “Everyone rooted for and supported my success. I feel equipped with skills and knowledge that will help me succeed as a future attorney.”

“Being a summer associate allowed me to work directly with a variety of practice groups and partners,” said Thomas R. Starks, Goodsill Summer Associate and J.D. candidate. “I was pleasantly surprised to work on projects that I could contribute to in a substantive way. I discovered that I really have a passion for litigation, even though I started the summer thinking I would lean towards transactional.”
