Goodsill Partner Deirdre Marie-Iha has been actively involved in efforts to update Hawaii’s parentage laws. In August 2023, she was tapped by Hawaiʻi Attorney General Anne E. Lopez to serve on the Act 156 Task Force. Deirdre was asked to serve in this role due to her prior legislative experience with the Hawaiʻi Marriage Equality Act. Act 156 directs the task force to provide the State Legislature with recommended amendments to the Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, to reflect modern concepts of family, marriage, parenthood, conception, gestation, and parental rights. Deirdre’s volunteer work on this task force demonstrates her continued commitment to public service.
