Goodsill was proud to support the Hawai‘i Women Lawyers Foundation (HWLF) at its annual fundraiser on September 27 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Ballroom, entitled “Defying Gravity.” The evening included a program of songs and dances by talented attorneys and judges, based on “Wicked” and “The Wizard of Oz.” Partner Maegan Ruggles appeared as Dorothy with her beloved dog, Toto. The event was well attended and included more than 40 judges who paid tribute to this year’s honorees.
This year’s program honored Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald (ret.) for his many years of support and participation in HWLF’s mission. The evening also recognized Partner Jennifer Chin for her leadership and dedicated service to the Foundation through her work as co-chair of this year’s fundraiser. Jennifer was honored for her significant pro bono work with Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii, among other organizations, that provide legal assistance to the community through education, legal advice clinics, brief services and referrals to pro bono attorneys for direct representation.
The fundraiser helps HWLF provide grants for initiatives that serve women and children in need and advance women in the legal profession — work that Goodsill is committed to supporting. Partners Gail Cosgrove and Maegan Ruggles have served on the Board of Directors of HWLF, and Goodsill has been an ongoing supporter of HWLF since its inception.
Goodsill proudly hosted two tables of attendees, including partners, counsel, and associates, as well as Corlis Chang and Andrew Recktenwald to support HWLFʻs critical mission.
We are grateful for the opportunity to support HWLF’s ongoing efforts and to celebrate a night dedicated to service, community, and the advancement of women in law.
