The Goodsill team is still feeling the excitement from Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii’s 7th Annual Taste of Justice Thank You Pau Hana! Goodsill was a title sponsor for the event, and Goodsill partners David Hoftiezer and Jennifer Chin serve on the VLSH board.
Held on October 12 at Café Julia, the Pau Hana honored Goodsill Neighborhood Clinic for its advice and counsel to more than 600 clients since 2010. Every month, Goodsill attorneys volunteer their time to assist in district court cases, specifically for private landlord/tenant, small claims and collection cases.
In addition, Goodsill partner Jennifer Chin was presented with the Kahiau Award. Kahiau — which means “selfless generosity, a willingness to help and give service without expectation of receiving anything in return” — is an accurate reflection of the countless hours Jennifer has put into her work with VLSH. From writing grants to helping educate formerly incarcerated women, Jennifer has gone above and beyond; she even provided emergency advice and counsel to a Maui client who was facing eviction after the fires.
Many Goodsill partners and associates also attended the event to support VLSH, including Tanya David, Dale Zane, David Hoftiezer, Joelle Yamamoto, Christopher St. Sure, Ryan Fletcher, Rosemarie Sam, Russell Kato, and Edmund Saffery.
